At the beginning of September Milan hosted MICAM and MIPEL, international footwear and bags trade shows, dedicated to SS17. Over four days we looked through more than hundred coollections and decided to summarize the observed highlighting the main accessory trends for the next summer.
Trend No. 1: back to 70s.
Retro is back in fashion again, and now the avant-garde 70s rule! Platforms and wide trapezoidal heels are the evident hits of the season which were observed in the collections of many famous brands. A symbol of the era – massive sole saldals with a thin strap is a must have of spring-summer footwear wardrobe.
Trend No. 2: metallic
Another unconditional hit is metallic leather. Silver, copper and gold are the main colors of summer 2017. The biggest advantage of the metallicaccessories is their ability to be perfectly adapted to any color palette of a look. In this respect, steel color seems to be a kind of universal solution.
Trend No. 3: transformers
Many manufacturers of accessories tend to functionality. They belive it’s not enough to have several different handbags for all occasions if they can be combined in one. That’s why transformer bags that can easily change their shape and color are gaining popularity. We are talking about reversible bags, a crossbody that can turn into a clutch or a purse with a wrist strap, and a shopping bag that becomes an elegant handbag or abucket bag.
Trend No. 4: wide strap
Microbags with wide straps are another one spring-summer key trend. Karl Lagerfeld was the firt to introduce it a couple of seasons ago creating collections for maison Fendi. Now, the idea is picked up by many middle-up bags manufacturers. This disproportionately wide strap tends to win affection of IT-girls. Our faves are the straps decorated with embroidery and flower appliques.
Trend No. 5: backpacks
Backpacks are about to seriously compete with handbags next summer. According to trendsetters, rucksacks are no more sporty look attribute. Prejudice aside: the accessory can be combined both with street style looks and refined romantic dresses.
One-color leather and suede backpacks will be the most trendy ones in the upcoming year.
